Metigoshe Natural Area

Metigoshe Natural Area is home to a wide variety of wildlife and native plant species. It is used by the TMCD as an educational backdrop for school tours in the area. Here, school groups can explore different plant species, wetlands, and aquatic invertebrates in a safe, hand-on learning environment. This area is also used by both residents of the Lake Metigoshe Community and by tourist as a recreational area. The area includes an observation tower, fire pit, and walking trails that lead to a floating dock and bridge. These walking trails are used for hiking and cross country skiing. The TMCD plans to make further improvements to this area this summer by posting signs on the walking trails giving directions and distances to different points and also displaying interesting facts about the area and the plants and animals that inhabit this area. The TMCD will also be placing Geocaches throughout the area that visitors can search for using GPS.
